Skateboarding has been a staple in my life for over 20 years. Besides the simple joy of pushing down the street, skateboarding has a lot to offer as a practice, an art form, and a culture. Skateboarding is a very individual activity, though the best times are often shared with groups of friends. Skateboarding has no rule books but it does have a strong culture with its own set of unwritten laws. Skateboarding is not driven by competition or spectators. Rather, it finds its expression and progression within its own community through ever-changing media forms, from magazines and VHS to DVDs and online media, and through tightly knit local scenes around the world.
